A Meeting of Filmmakers and Film Scholars, to will help to consolidate and grow the field of Caribbean Cinema Studies by bringing together a group of international scholars and filmmakers to present their work and discuss ideas in a series of panels and roundtables. We will look for commonalities shared by films from the region and its diasporas as well as differences that set films, filmmakers, film traditions, and film industry landscapes apart from each other.

Karina Valdez is a Dominican theater and film actress and producer known for the character of Rita in “Woodpeckers” by José María Cabral, Dary: in “Sambá” by Laura Amelia Guzmán and Israel Cárdenas and the short film “Chanel” by Humberto Vallejo.

Héctor Then is a Dominican casting actor and director known for “Native of the Night”, “Ain’t Fácil”, “Tropic of Blood”, “La Lucha de Ana” and “Biodegradable”.

Judith Rodríguez is an actress, writer, director and producer of Dominican theater and cinema. He studied at the National School of Dramatic Arts in Santo Domingo and has worked in different theater and film productions since he was 16 years old.

Karina Noble is a renowned Dominican actress and casting director, deserving of important awards and recognitions for her outstanding career.

Born in Spain of Moroccan origins Mina began her training in acting at a very young age and began working on the well-known MEDIASET series “EL PRINCIPE” in 2014. From that moment she has combined THEATER (“INSIDE THE EARTH” for the National Dramatic Center) and TELEVISION, both national with important characters (“SERVE AND PROTECT”) and international (“THE STATE”) for the BBC.

Tenacious, constant and very professional Mina is one of the promises of the world of interpretation in Spain that with “ELITE” consolidates her career with a view to the international market. Confirmed her work in the third season of ÉLITE, she has also participated in the co-production MEXICO / SPAIN “HERNÁN, EL HOMBRE”. Mina speaks Spanish, Arabic (Moroccan) and English.

Lucía grew up in the small town of Traiguera, Spain. Her debut film, ‘La inocencia’ (2019), was selected for the ‘New Directors’ competition of 67º San Sebastián International Film Festival and won the Abycine Indie award. The project had been supported during its development stage by “La Incubadora – The Screen” of ECAM.

Ernesto Alterio is an Argentine-born Spanish film and television actor, son of Héctor Alterio and brother of Malena Alterio. He has starred in the TV cult mini-series Winds of the water along with his father, and has twice worked with director Marcelo Piñeyro. He works both in Spain and Argentine television.
