Gabriela Calvache

Gabriela Calvache (Ambato, 1977) is an Ecuadorian director, producer, screenwriter and writer. She is known for directing the fiction feature “La mala noche” (2019) that won the award for best international film in the 25th edition of the New York Film Festival. Her creations focus on the social field, since her goal is to raise awareness about controversial issues, as in the case of his work “There are things that are not said” (2006), which refers to homosexuality or its short film “On hold” (2011), which It deals with child labor, problems and social phenomena present in Ecuador, Latin America and the rest of the world.
