Protagonists of the movie ''The Runner'' bring a message of hope and motivation to Hogar Crea Dominicano

(Santo Domingo, January 25, 2023). The protagonists of the film ''The Runner'', Cameron Douglas and Edouard Philipponnat, visited Hogar Crea Dominicano on Wednesday and brought a message of hope and motivation to the inmates. They were accompanied by actress Ella Travolta; Liston D. Bochette, Olympic runner, and Jon Koncak, former NBA player.
They were received by Julio Díaz, director of Hogar Crea Dominicano, who expressed: ''these actors are leaders who have motivated us with the story of the film. “It is a great opportunity to have them here bringing a message of hope, the same one we felt when watching the film.”
After listening to some testimonies from the center's participants, Douglas said he felt identified with each one. ''I have been through many situations since I was 16, I lost many opportunities because of my relationship with drugs, I went to prison for 8 years and there I learned to respect myself and have a new perspective on life. I told myself that enough was enough, that I had to set a good example for my children and that it's not just what you say, but what you do.''
“I tell you that no one will be able to get you out of this if you do not make the decision and do your part, only you can make the decision and act, no one will do it for you. I am very happy that you are seeking help, I wish you the best. Thank you for letting me be here,' she said.
Douglas received, from Hogar Crea Dominicano, a plaque of recognition “for the bravery of having come out of said process and motivating others to come out.”
Philipponnat was also recognized for his participation in the film. He expressed feeling familiar with everyone present, despite not having any personal experience with the consumption of prohibited substances, but in order to play his role, he had to know in depth about them and attend some meetings of alcoholics anonymous.
The visit ended with an impromptu basketball game between the guests and the hosts.
