Work, preparation and focus, key elements for the world of acting

The panelists of the Global Talk ''Development, strength and passion of
acting'', they spoke from their experiences in the film industry

(Santo Domingo, Thursday, January 26). The Santo Domingo Global Film Festival (FCGSD) organized on Thursday, January 26, the discussion ''Development, strength and passion of acting'', with the participation as speakers of the actors of the film ''The Runner'', Cameron Douglas and Edouard Philipponnat, as well as one of the film's producers, Hrisheek Panchmatia.

When speaking, Panchmatia explained that at first he wanted to work as an actor in Los Angeles and while there he realized that he was looking for something else, so he decided to venture into the area of film production.

The young producer also said that one of the things he has learned from pursuing this career is knowing how to choose the crew, ''in a production it is very important to bring the right people, I think that you have to have people at your side who have the same hunger as you, that you want to work with that person and that person with you, because when you have a film, They are months of filming and hours and days that they will spend together. As a producer you have to take into account surrounding yourself with people who want to give as much as you do.''

During the conversation, Douglas highlighted that each character is a rehearsal, so he recommended: ''when you have to play a character, don't go with the mentality that it will be easy, it takes time to prepare it, to even see what can happen. "I prefer to be prepared in case an obstacle occurs rather than improvising."

Douglas said that his grandfather and his father are the people he respects the most in his life and that from them he learned that acting is a job in which you have to be professional and prepare each character as if it were new, because it really is. He added that now as an adult he has acquired a certain maturity and interest in maintaining his family's acting legacy.

''As actors we face many auditions and sometimes we are not prepared, in some auditions they tell us no. In my 23 years I have been to more than 100 and in many of them they have not given me the opportunity, but I recommend keeping trying,'' commented Philipponnat.

He also stated that many times you don't get the role because you auditioned, but because someone saw the talent and liked it or made a recommendation. He added that it doesn't matter if the roles are long or short, “the best way to get a role is to be seen by a director or a producer, regardless of whether it is a short film or feature film.”
