(Santo Domingo, January 23, 2023). The Santo Domingo Global Film Festival (FCGSD) held, in conjunction with the General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE), the “Caribbean Co-Production Meeting”, with the aim of producers presenting their projects to potential co-producers and expanding thus their connections with talent in the region.

This activity was headed by Marianna Vargas Gurilieva, director of the DGCINE; Jérôme Paillard, former director of the Cannes Festival and executive director of the Ventana Sur Festival; Magalie Armand, director of co-productions at the National Cinema Center (CNC) of France, and Alexiane Jarin, director of the “DEENTAL” program – Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP).

This first meeting brought together producers from the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Barbados, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Lucia and the Bahamas.

The DEENTAL program was launched in July 2020 by the Center National du Cinéma et de l'Image Animée (CNC), with the financial cooperation of the European Union and the support of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States ( ACP).

DEENTAL is a support mechanism for projects originating in ACP countries and beneficiaries of aid within the framework of Aide aux Cinémas du Monde (ACM) and / or Fonds pour la Jeune Création Francophone (JCF). A second component of the project is dedicated to capabilities to support the structuring of the audiovisual sector in the ACP countries.
