Synopsis

Leo is a manual laborer living the motions of life in the city of Acarigua, nestled in the arid inland empire of Venezuela. Beset by financial difficulties, he does whatever work he can to make ends meet and keep their relationship afloat. Alex, his deaf younger brother, offers him an unusual proposal: join him in a music competition and sing a song he has written, for a chance to win a cash prize that will get them both out of their financial problems. . Director's Statement

It was really inspired by my travels through the interior of Venezuela with one of our producers, Wil Romero, and meeting the people of Acarigua, the warmth of the plains of El Llano, and also my experience here having one foot in the United States. , and another foot in Venezuela. I've been here for 26 years, and seeing people who sometimes would die to have the same opportunity, but maybe not, and maybe they will never have it, and that frustration I had with myself where sometimes I don't take advantage of it. the gifts and opportunities we have because life happens. So [I thought] what was the best way to put this into a movie, and [it emerged as] the story of two brothers, one who has an incredible, powerful voice, a gift that he has never used and that he has let slip away. away, and his younger brother who has no voice, but would die to have one. In fact, the younger brother, although he is deaf, really has a much stronger voice than his older brother, and that inspiration for the characters really [came from] the spirit of the Venezuelan people, who despite the obstacles of everyday life that We face what we face in the country, we attack life with optimism and determination and we never stop finding hope for a better tomorrow.

Miguel Angel Ferrer

Miguel Angel Ferrer is an award-winning Venezuelan-American filmmaker with more than 18 years in the advertising, film and television industries. His short film “deMónica” has won numerous awards worldwide including Best Short Film at the Venezuela International Film Festival and the Madrid International Film Festival. Miguel's experimental short “Culpa” was acquired by HBO and has been an official selection at more than 15 festivals, garnering finalist accolades and the Best Actor award for lead Daniel Hernández. Miguel has directed and produced national and Super Bowl campaigns in the North American and Hispanic markets, for clients such as NBC Universal, Pepsi Co, Ford and many more.
