Director's Statement

“In many ways, Ana de Pombo is a pioneer of what we can see in Marbella today. At first I had not focused on her, I was doing research on the Marbella summer in which the artist Jean Cocteau was her guest. There Ana de Pombo emerged as the host and I was attracted to her figure. So I decided to focus the project there. After experiencing the Civil War and the Second World War, Ana de Pombo arrived in Marbella ready to change the town on the Costa del Sol. She fell in love with the town and in the last years of her life what she wanted was to attract the greatest number of personalities possible . Her faithful followers, Beatriz de Saboya, the Duchesses of Peñaranda and the Duchess of Kent herself, paraded through La Maroma, the store in the Plaza de los Naranjos. Her main literary work, which her friend Cayetana de Alba prefaced, 'My Last Condemnation' (1971), which now gives the film its title, tells her cosmopolitan story as an autobiography in four sections where she defines herself as Ana de Pombo, Ana de Paris, Anne of Spain and Anne of the World.”
