Synopsis

During the summer, Sofía, thirteen years old, moves to the country house, where her cousin Cristina is waiting for her to spend the holidays. During these days of games and discoveries, the two will find themselves immersed in a love triangle with a man almost twenty years older. Her outcome will mark the transition from puberty to adolescence for both of them.

Director's Statement

“Trigal is a story that I wrote 10 years ago or so, and that is part of a series of personal memories in relation to my passage from puberty to adolescence, where I lived in the countryside, and in my case, it was a passage that had to do with enjoying nature and exploring with my cousin and other friends, that other world that was masculinity for us, and that was - let's say - just around the corner. In small towns these interactions occur very easily, so in a family where there was not much talk about it and where one grew a little in fits and starts, at the side of oneself or how one decided how to grow, the exploration of the The world of adolescence was a very intimate, personal thing, very much with your friends, full of adventure, but also full of obstacles and issues that you suddenly didn't know what you were getting yourself into. Trigal has to do with that and with a very intimate exploration, for me it was a very difficult time, I had lost my mother and I was very alone, and there is something of this in the characters, very disoriented, there was no one to be there for me. saying how things were and it generated guilt, sadness, emotion, happiness, excitement, all of that is a bit of what happens in Trigal.”

Anabel Caso

Anabel Caso is a director and screenwriter of Argentine origin, living in Mexico for 20 years, she graduated from the Cinematographic Research Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is currently in the promotion stage of her debut film Trigal de ella, filmed during 2020 and whose script has received support from the Mexican Institute of Cinematography, the Ibermedia Program and the Sundance Institute.
